We are a married couple power team living out our passions for people and places. Sedrick and Kaley have a combined 20 years experience of managing organizations and community development projects.
Sedrick is from the Democratic Republic of Congo whose professional journey began in 2007 after co-founding YARID (Young African Refugees for Integral Development) a grassroots organization supporting urban refugees in Kampala, Uganda. Sedrick is a community organizer at heart and has used his skills for bringing people together to support other grassroots organizations and groups to enact their visions. He is passionate about youth issues and spends his free time motivating youth and public speaking.
Kaley is a Texas native turned California dreamer who found a passion for listening and sharing stories. Kaley’s journey began with using filmmaking as a tool to seek social justice and create change. She has coordinated urban agriculture projects, facilitated capacity building trainings in Uganda, consulted on HR and organizational management, and supported local artists in Uganda develop social media and video productions to promote their work.
K-Sed (their celebrity name meld) met while both working with refugee communities in San Diego. They fell in love while producing a documentary film together about refugees in Uganda – those long hours editing really paid off!
Today, Kaley and Sedrick work with an on-the-ground team of Community Facilitators to implement empowerment projects in East Africa and Congo and wherever they find themselves in the U.S. of A.
